The district partnered with Magma Math, a K-12 math platform, to host Mathways at Manor Oaks School on April 1. This collaborative event invited teachers and administrators from districts across Long Island to learn more about Magma Math from a district who has fully embraced the program. New Hyde Park-Garden City Park is the first district in New York State to host Mathways.

Following an introduction and presentation on Magma Math in the school library, the attendees visited first and fourth grade classrooms to observe the math lessons. Teachers shared their experiences with the platform, noting how it enhances student engagement and allows them to monitor student progress. During the demonstrations, the visiting teachers and administrators were able to ask questions and watch how students utilize the platform on their Chromebooks.

New Hyde Park-Garden City Park has successfully utilized Magma Math as a supplemental math program since 2023.

The event was organized by District Math and Science Coach Lara Holzkamp, District Technology Integration Specialist Jeanine Laurino and Director of Curriculum and Instruction Kim LaRegina.
