Hillside Grade School fourth graders engaged in a hands-on Project-Based Learning activity as part of their social studies unit on local Native American tribes.
Using a variety of craft and recycled materials, the students made dioramas of longhouses or wigwams – the two common dwellings of the Iroquois and Algonquians, respectively. The students also had to answer research questions to accompany their projects.
The fourth graders recently hosted a Gallery Walk to present their projects to their peers and families.
