The district’s afterschool Lego Clubs are exploring the layers of the ocean and utilizing their creativity, as they participate in the FIRST Lego League Explore SUBMERGED challenge.

Eleven groups across all four school buildings, comprised of approximately 130 third and fourth graders, meet weekly to work on their Lego designs. Using Lego bricks and Lego Education software, each group is tasked with creating an under-the-sea scene. Their projects include an autonomous underwater vehicle, coral reef, shark, sunken treasure and diver. The students must code the submarine to flash a light and propel forwards and backwards.

The Lego Clubs will display their work at the districtwide Lego Expo on May 12.
