Hillside Grade School students from pre-K through sixth grade beautified the school grounds with colorful messages of kindness as part of the recent Unity Day Chalk the Walk event.
Unity Day is an annual, nationwide event dedicated to promoting kindness, acceptance and inclusion as part of National Bullying Prevention Month in October.
To commemorate this anti-bullying day, Hillside Grade School students were encouraged to wear orange, which is the color that symbolizes unity, and draw and write positive messages in chalk. The school celebrates Unity Day each year in order to send a clear message that no student should ever experience bullying.
"Our goal every day is to make everyone feel safe and valued regardless of differences,” Principal Beth Torreano said.
